Smoothie and Chia bowls

Smoothie and Chia bowls

So my kids are smoothie obsessed. A while back I made them smoothie bowls and topped them with some healthy and tasty toppings to spice things up a bit! My son especially went nuts and it’s been highly requested in our house ever since.

I am not the biggest smoothie fan, but even I enjoy eating a smoothie bowl. I do have a huge sweet tooth, so I thought I’d try some Chocolate Chia seed pudding bowls as well! I decided to couple these two recipes together because they can be used interchangeably for breakfast, lunch or a snack. It’s a good way to feel like you are eating a treat when you are really eating something good for you!

After trying a few different recipes For chocolate Chia seed pudding, I wasn’t finding one I loved. Typically my kids get to pick one item at the grocery store and one time my son selected Silk Almond Dark Chocolate milk, so I tried making Chia Seed pudding with that and I loved it! Problem is that it is almost too easy! Two ingredients and shake then leave in the fridge overnight. I’ve hmm’d and haw’d for over a year wondering if I should post because it is so easy!

Now I think what makes both of these things delicious and appetizing is the toppings. We love to add some hemp hearts, shredded dried coconut, fresh fruit, granola, and chia seeds.

Chocolate Chia Seed Pudding

Serves two adults

2 cups Silk Almond Dark Chocolate Milk

7 tbs chia seeds

Put in a jar and shake for about a minute. If possible give it a few more shakes when you open the fridge over the next several hours. Leave in fridge overnight. Eat in the next 3 days. Garnish with toppings of your choice. My favourite is strawberries and Love Crunch Dark Chocolate and Peanut Butter Granola.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl

4-5 strawberries

1/2 cup yogurt or kefir

Put everything in a blender and blend until even in texture. Put in a bowl, load up with toppings and enjoy!
