Peach Crisp

Peach Crisp

Everyone has a good family apple crisp recipe that is an easy go to for dessert, or a quick way to hide all the apples that started going off at the same time because you forgot about them in the back of the fridge. I mean, that’s never happened to me, but it could happen! Now my big case of peaches I bought at the farmers market had a few of them looking less perfect and a little bruised after a week, so I thought, “I’ll make a crisp!”. I just adapted my mom’s apple crisp recipe (thanks mom!) and traded the apples for peaches and it was amazing!! The cook time was reduced because peaches are softer and requires less time to cook. Now it is fantastic served warm with vanilla ice cream, but my favourite way to eat crisp is for breakfast. Growing up it was something my mom would let us do and I loved it! What is better than eating dessert for breakfast? Oats and fruit are breakfast foods anyway right?

Peach Crisp

  • 4 cups sliced peaches
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Set oven to 350 degrees. In an 8×8, or 9×9 pan arrange the sliced peaches evenly. In a medium mixing bowl combine the oats, butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt until mixed. I used my fingers to get that crumbly texture, but a pastry cutter works perfectly as well. Spread over the peaches and bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.
